It covers espresso extraction theory, grinder calibration, and workflow, as well as flavor profiling, sensory evaluation, and latte art. This level is ideal for baristas looking to refine their skills and deepen their coffee knowledge.

Participants practice milk steaming for intricate latte art, develop skills in flavor profiling, and refine their coffee presentation. For the SCA Barista Skills Intermediate level, the online written exam consists of 35 questions, with a passing score of 70%. Participants have 37 minutes to complete the exam, which assesses their understanding of advanced espresso techniques and flavor profiles.
The practical exam is divided into three sections, with a total time allowance of 40 minutes. To pass, learners must achieve a score of at least 50% in Section 1 (3 points correct), 82.7% in Section 2 (48 points correct), and 64% in Section 3 (9 points correct). Participants must pass all three sections to receive certification.
