Day 4
Coffee Aromas
Video: Types of aromas — floral, fruity, caramel, nutty, and how your nose detects them
Creative Homework: "Kitchen Treasure Hunt" - Find 3 items in your kitchen that smell like notes in your coffee (apple, nuts, caramel, spices). Smell them, then smell your coffee and find the connections.
Day 5
Acidity
Video: Different types of acidity (citric, malic, acetic) and why they’re not a bad thing
Homework: "Acids Test" - Sip coffee, then eat a slice of lemon/orange/apple, then sip coffee again. How does the acidity change?
Day 6
Sweetness

Day 7
Week 1 Summary + Mini-Test
Video: Review of all topics from Week 1
Homework: "Blind Taste Challenge" - Taste two different coffees (e.g., supermarket vs. specialty). Describe the differences using everything you learned this week.
Week 2. Developing Coffee Tasting Skills
Day 8
Aftertaste
Video: How to perceive and describe what lingers on your palate
Creative Homework: "Coffee & Chocolate Pairing" - Sip coffee, wait 30 seconds, and describe the aftertaste. Then try it with a piece of dark chocolate and see how it changes.
Day 9
Balance and Flavor Harmony
Video: How sweetness, acidity, bitterness, and body interact in a perfect cup
Creative Homework: "The Adjuster Game" - Brew one coffee and split it into 3 cups. Add a tiny pinch of salt to one, sugar to another, leave one plain. Taste all three and describe how balance shifts
Day 10
Differences Between Origins and Varieties
Video: Flavor characteristics of Brazil (nutty/chocolate), Ethiopia (floral/fruity), Kenya (berry/acidic)
Creative Homework: "Origin Face-Off" - Taste 2 coffees from different origins. Create a "taste map" - draw where each flavor lives on your tongue.
Day 11
How Temperature Changes Everything
Video: Why coffee tastes completely different when hot, warm, and cold Why it’s cool: Most people drink coffee fast. This teaches them to slow down and discover new flavors as the cup cools
Creative Homework: "The Cooling Challenge" - Brew one cup. Taste it immediately (hot), at 10 minutes (warm), and at 20 minutes (room temp). Write three completely different tasting notes for the SAME coffee.
Day 12
Home Cupping Practice
